Following the firing of Bryan Singer from the Queen biopic, a new director has been announced. Singer was fired from the project Monday following an escalating clash between the director and star Rami Malek and reported absences from the set. Singer released a statement on his termination:
“I wanted nothing more than to be able to finish this project and help honor the legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen, but Fox would not permit me to do so because I needed to temporarily put my health, and the health of my loved ones, first.”
Now, Eddie the Eagle director Dexter Fletcher will be taking over the film. Production is expected to resume next week.
Fox, New Regency and Graham King’s GK Films banner are producing Bohemian Rhapsody, which hits theaters Dec. 25, 2018.
