Netflix’s Umbrella Academy Adds to Cast

The coming Netflix live-action series is based on the Eisner award-winning book written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Ba published by  Dark Horse Comics. The Umbrella Academy, adapted by Jeremy Slater, follows a dysfunctional family of superheroes, called the Umbrella Academy, as they solve their father’s mysterious death.

Now, The Umbrella Academy has added Tom Hopper, Emmy Raver-Lampman, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gallagher to it’s cast.

Hopper, known for his roles on Starz’ Black Sails and HBO’s Game of Thrones, will play Luther. According to the official release, Luther is described as “upstanding to a fault” and a person who always tries to do the right thing. The character was groomed by his father to lead the group.

Raver-Lampman will take on the role of Allison, a beautiful former actor with the power of suggestion. Her special talent causes all her relationships to crumble, which has led her to suppress her powers.

Castaneda has been cast as Diego – a skilled vigilante who doesn’t like being told what to do. Diego isn’t as smart or strong as his siblings, but he’s the hardest working. Diego believes he should be the leader instead of Luther which makes him tough to work with.

Gallagher, best known for his role in the Emmy-winning Nickelodeon series Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn, will play Number Five. Although he appears to be 13-year-old boy,he is actually a 58-year-old man stuck in a child’s body.

Sheehan, who became known for his breakout role in Misfits, plays Klaus, a drug addict and “lovable mess of a human being.” Klaus is a classic middle child and a people pleaser, though he can turn coat at any moment.

They join previously announced cast member Ellen Page who plays Vanya – the only sibling with seemingly no superpowers.

The Umbrella Academy, slated to debut in 2018, is a production of Netflix
