Don’t panic just yet… BUT – Disney announced it will be pulling it’s movies from Netflix to launch it’s own streaming service in 2019. Details are pretty vague on the fate of Marvel and Star Wars films, but, reports are Marvel’s slate of TV shows will remain on Netflix.
According to a statement Disney CEO Bob Iger made to CNBC, Disney will be making a “significant investment” in original movies and series that will only be available on the platform. As a part of the project, Disney will acquire a majority of BAMTech, the streaming technology company owned by MLBAM. Disney already owned a stake in BAMTech but will pay $1.58 billion for an additional 42 percent.
Stay tuned, kids…
