New Director for Locke & Key

And so the saga goes on…. the adaptation of Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’ Locke & Key was most recently to be directed by Scott Derrickson. Unfortunately, a scheduling conflict forced Derrickson to exit the project. Now, THR is reporting Andy Muschietti, director of Mama and the upcoming It film, will be taking over.

Locke & Key was first filmed as a TV pilot in 2011 but was not picked up. Since then, there has been talk of the series moving to another network or being made into a series of films. This current project sees co-creator Hill on the writing staff of the series headed to Hulu.

The Eisner Award-winning Locke & Key centers on the Locke family who return to Keyhouse, the family home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts following the murder of the father. The family is stalked by a mysterious woman living in the well behind the house and the kids must find a way to fight back.

The Locke & Key series doesn’t have a release date.
