Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan have worked together on the films Fruitvale Station and Creed. The two are once again teaming up on Wrong Answer. The film focuses on the 2006 standardized test cheating scandal at Atlanta public schools. Jordan will portray teacher Damany Lewis, who joined the effort in order to prevent his school from shutting down under provisions of the No Child Left Behind law. The students in Lewis’ school were severely underprivileged. Despite the best efforts of Lewis and other teachers, Children were not making the grades necessary to keep the school from being closed. Eleven teachers were indicted on racketeering allegations
Ta-Nehisi Coates will write a script that is based on a 2014 The New Yorker article by Rachel Aviv. Aviv will serve as a consultant on the project with Damany Lewis.
Coogler will direct the project and produce with Plan B’s Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, and New Regency’s Arnon Milchan.
