After only a single season, Fox has opted not to renew 24: Legacy. The 24 franchise rebooted starred Corey Hawkins, Miranda Otto and Jimmy Smits. The network had delayed it’s renewal decision on the series explaining Hawkins was on Broadway in Six Degrees of Separation and his “schedule [did not] allow consideration for the fall,” Fox chairman Gary Newman said.
Coming off a strong post debut Super Bowl, the series only brought tepid ratings. Only last month Fox chairman Dana Walden said of the series;
“We were so happy with the creative on that show, We think Corey Hawkins did a great job — replacing Jack Bauer was no easy feat.”
Despite the cancelation of 24: Legacy, the network, producing studio 20th TV and producers Howard Gordon and Brian Grazer are exploring a potential new, more anthological/event series 24 incarnation.
