Misfits Gets Pilot Order

Misfits, a supernatural drama inspired by the British series, has been given a pilot order by Freeform. The series revolves around a group of young offenders in a community service program who develop supernatural powers after being hit by an electrical storm. The original series debuted on E4 in 2009 and ran for five seasons. If you missed it, the series is currently available to stream on Hulu. Check out the original series trailer:

The reboot comes from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage’s Fake Empire and Diane Ruggiero-Wright. Ruggiero-Wrigh wrote the adaptation and will serve as showrunner. Ashleigh LaThrop, Tre Hall, Allie MacDonald and Jake Cannavale have been cast in the lead roles. Victoria “Vic” Mahoney (Grey’s Anatomy) is on board to direct.

Lathrop will play Alicia, a spoiled, vapid, middle-class party girl who seems to have three main goals in life: Have fun, look hot and get guys.

Hall will portray Curtis, a talented and cocky football player with a promising career ahead of him who is used to everything going his way.

MacDonald is set as the tough and trashy Kelly, who is street smart with a hair-trigger temper and a penchant for beating the crap out of people.

Cannavale rounds out the group as Nathan, a con artist and a thief with a heavily inflated sense of his own attractiveness, intelligence and potential.

Stay tuned, kids…
