Get ready, kids. Jordan Peele’s Monkeypaw Productions, J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot and Warner Bros Television are teaming up to bring a new series to HBO. Lovecraft Country is a new drama given a straight-to-series based on Matt Ruff’s 2016 book of the same title. The novel tells the story of 25-year-old Atticus Black whose father goes missing. He, his Uncle George and a friend set out the find his father across 1950s Jim Crow America. During their road trip, they struggle to survive and overcome the racist terrors of white America and malevolent spirits…. The goal is an anthological horror series that reclaims genre storytelling from the African-American perspective.

Misha Green is on board as producer, showrunner and writer.  Peele will  exec produce along with Green, Abrams and Ben Stephenson.   Peele brought the book to Bad Robot and enlisted Green. Green said of the project:

“When I first read Lovecraft Country I knew it had the potential to be unlike anything else on television. Jordan, JJ, Bad Robot, Warner Bros and HBO are all in the business of pushing the limits when it comes to storytelling, and I am beyond thrilled to be working with them on this project.”

Stay tuned, kids…
