We all know HBO’s Game of Thrones is coming to an end. NOW what are we going to do while waiting for the next book?!?! Well, HBO may have you covered. EW is reporting the network is developing FOUR spinoff shows! FOUR. What are the shows about? So far, HBO isn’t sharing any details except the shows:
“explore different time periods of George R. R. Martin’s vast and rich universe.”
There are four writers assigned to the project with George R.R. Martin involved in two of the projects. Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island, Fox’s Minority Report) and Brian Helgeland (A Knight’s Tale, L.A. Confidential) are each working on a spinoff with Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Secret Service, X-Men: First Class) and Carly Wray (Mad Men) working along with Martin.
Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss will stay on as executive producers. In a statement, HBO said:
“Weiss and Benioff continue to work on finishing up the seventh season and are already in the midst of writing and preparing for the eighth and final season. We have kept them up to date on our plans and they will be attached, along with George R. R. Martin, as executive producers on all projects. We will support them as they take a much-deserved break from writing about Westeros once the final season is complete.”
Game of Thrones returns for its seventh season on July 16.
