PLEASE let this happen. Please. THR is reporting that Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s Locke & Key is headed to Hulu. A pilot has been ordered to be written by Hill with Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel, The Strain, Jack Ryan) as showrunner and Scott Derrickson (Doctor Strange) directing. The two will executive produce with Lindsey Springer.
Locke & Key debuted in 2008 and centers on Nina Locke and her three children Tyler, Kinsey and Bode, who, after the murder of Nina’s husband Rendell, return to Keyhouse, the family home in Lovecraft, Massachusetts. There they encounter the manipulative entity Dodge, and numerous doors that can transport the mansion’s residents to other worlds or bestow them with supernatural abilities. The series earned an Eisner Award and a pair of British Fantasy Awards before ending in 2013. In 2011, it was developed as a TV pilot with Fox teaming with producers Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Steven Spielberg and Amblin. Fox ultimately passed on the project. IDW put out a straight-to-series package to bidders — including Netflix, HBO and FX — last month. Fingers crossed it has found a home with Hulu. Stay tuned, kids….
