Dune Project Lands Screenwriter

Legendary Pictures acquired the rights to Dune in November. The studio hired Denis Villeneuve, whose recent works include Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 to direct the project.  Variety is now reporting Eric Roth, Academy Award-winning writer of Forrest Gump, will be working as screenwriter. Roth’s writing credits  include Munich, The Insider and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

Written by Frank Herbert in 1965, Dune has twice been adapted. David Lynch made a film in 1984 feature. There was also a 2000 television miniseries. The current project has no release scheduled. Stay tuned, kids…
