Variety is reporting Daniel Wu, currently starring in AMC’s Into the Badlands, has joined the cast of the coming Tomb Raider reboot. The Warner Bros. film comes from director Roar Uthaug with Alicia Vikander in the role of Lara Croft. Wu has been cast in the role of Lu Ren, a ship captain who partners with Croft on a quest to find her father.
The Tomb Raider video game was released in 1996 by Eidos Interactive. The 2013Square Enix with reboot saw a younger, 21-year-old Croft on her first big adventure.
The first two films from Paramount, starring Angelina Jolie 2001 and 2003, grossed a combined $431 million worldwide. The reboot is slated to hit theaters March 16, 2018.
