The project has been characterized not as a Harley Quinn solo outing or a sequel to “Suicide Squad” sequel, but rather an ensemble film that will feature several of DC Comics’ female heroes and villains. Batgirl and the Birds of Prey have been mentioned, but nothing has been confirmed. Margot Robbie is set not only to reprise her “Suicide Squad” role as Harley Quinn but also executive produce through her first-look deal with Warner Bros. She reportedly pitched the idea for the film to the studio. Geneva Robertson-Dworet, who is working on scripts for the “Tomb Raider” remake as well as “Sherlock Holmes 3,” has been tapped to write the script.
