Netflix has renewed Stranger Things for a second season. Season 2 will return in 2017 with 9 episodes. Matt and Ros Duffer will return as writers and will executive produce with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen. The Duffer brothers said at the Television Critics Association press tour:
“We want it to feel like a big movie. But there’s a bigger mythology, and there’s a lot of dangling threads at the end. We could explore it if Netflix wanted to continue.”
Stranger Things’ first season starred David Harbour, Matthew Modine, Finn Wolfhard, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, Noah Schnapp, Millie Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Joe Chrest, Joe Keery, Rob Morgan, Ross Partridge, Shannon Purser, John Paul Reynolds, Mark Steger, Chris Sullivan and Winona Ryder in her first major TV role. Stay tuned, kids!!
EW is sharing teasers from the Duffer Brothers:
- There will be four new characters
- Hawkins will not be the only setting. Matt stated: “We will venture a little bit outside of Hawkins I will say the opening scene [of the premiere] does not take place in Hawkins.”
- It looks like the same cast may be returning. Ross Duffer stated: “I don’t think we ever thought anthology. I think we talked like a larger time jump where the kids are older now and it’s a different decade. That’s something we batted around from the very beginning. But for us, there’s still more story here, there’s still things that are unresolved.”
