Jason O’Mara Joins Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as the Director

Jason O’Mara, known for his voice work in titles such as Batman: Bad Blood and Son of Batman, will be joining the cast of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. O’Mara will be taking on the role of the new Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. The character has no official name, but  Marvel.com reports O’Mara will be “playing a character whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s.

Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb said in a statement:

“Bringing Jason into the mix as the New Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. forces everyone, particularly Coulson, to reevaluate their role in the Agency. Jason has both the physical presence and acting dynamics that will connect with and challenge even the most loyal agent.”

And what’s going on with Phil CoulsonAt Comic-Con International in San Diego, Clark Gregg explained:

“What I can say is that, with the Sokovia Accords and the end of ‘Captain America: Civil War,’ it’s clear that the world is very much aware that there are Enhanced people around, and so they’re going to need an organization to deal with that that’s under some government control. Whatever that government control is, they clearly didn’t feel that Phil Coulson should be the director.”

Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, starring Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet and Ming-Na Wen, returns Tuesday, September 20 at 10 pm EST on ABC.
