2016’s Blair Witch: Trailer and Poster

Official BW PosterSome of us know the joy of seeing the first Blair Witch Project in theaters. It was a cheep, silly film that scared the shit out of people. It was extra creepy if you watched Curse of the Blair Witch (Documentary 1999) first…

We are now learning that Lionsgate has been keeping a secret. The coming film  The Woods is actually a sequel to The Blair Witch Project!! Directed by Adam Wingard with a script by Simon Barrett, the film is titled Blair Witch. Starring James Allen McCune asbrother of Heather Donahue’s character from the original 1999 film, the ‘found footage’ follows a group who sets out to discover what happened to McCune’s missing sister. Sounds like a great idea, right? What could go wrong??

Blair Witch is being publicly shown Friday for the first time at Comic-Con in San Diego at an event which has been billed as a screening for The Woods. In May, Lionsgate released a trailer for The Woods:

Wingard said of the title:

“The Woods was our working title. When we signed on to it, we knew that [the name] was eventually going to be changed. To us, it wasn’t even going to be part of the marketing. But I think Lionsgate made a really smart decision, using that.”

The film hits theaters on Sept. 16. Check out the trailer, kids…
