Garry Marshall Passes Away at 81

Garry MarshallGarry Marshall passed away Tuesday evening from complications of pneumonia following a stroke at a hospital in Burbank, California. He was 81. The director, writer, and producer wrote for The Joey Bishop Show, The Lucy Show, and The Dick Van Dyke Show in the 1960s. In the ’70s, he executive produce several shows including The Odd Couple, Happy DaysLaverne & Shirley, and Mork & Mindy. His work earned him five Emmy nominations. Marshall began directing films in the ’80s. His credits include films such as Pretty Woman, Beaches, two Princess Diaries movies, and many, many more.

Marshall is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Sue Marshall; sisters Ronny Hallin and Penny Marshall; three children; and six grandchildren.
