The cast of the upcoming Superman prequel series “Krypton”

Seg-El, described as “athletic, quietly confident” man in his 20s. He’s also the father of Jor-El, making him Superman’s grandfather. The character also has roots in the comics; he appeared in 1999’s “Starman” #51 — an issue that was co-written by “Krypton” executive producer David S. Goyer.  Seg-El’s father Ter-El and Seg-El’s grandfather Val-El. Val-El is described as having “defied death by going into the Phantom Zone” and also believes in exploring space. . Lyta Zod and Alura Zod will appear on the show, ancestors of the Superman villain General Zod. Lyta is a “twentysomething beauty” and a reluctant warrior. Her mother is Alura, although details about remain unknown. Comic character Dev-Em will appear in the series as a “chiseled, twentysomething bad boy.” Dev-Em’s been a supporting Superman character since the ’60s and was once offered a membership in the Legion of Super-Heroes.

The sci-fi drama from David S. Goyer centers on Superman’s grandfather. Goyer, who wrote the pilot with Ian Goldberg, is set to executive produce. Hailing from Warner Horizon Television, the “Krypton” pilot will be directed and co-executive produced by Colm McCarthy (“Peaky Blinders”). “Sleepy Hollow” veteran Damian Kindler will serve as showrunner.
