This review will assume you have read DC Rebirth, if you have not there may be an unintentional spoiler or two. So if you don’t want to be spoiled STOP! And read Rebirth.
The New 52 Superman is dead, but in his wake The Pre Flashpoint Superman is ready to take up the role of Superman once again., but first there is some unfinished business to attend to. After all, this Superman came back from the dead; can this New 52 one do the same? Are there any side effects on the solar flares the New 52 Superman was emitting? How will this “new” Superman fit in in this strange yet familiar world? And will the mysterious Mr. Oz reappear again?
This book while a little slow-moving is very good, it sets up New 52 readers with who is this “other” Superman and gives us a beautiful retelling of the time the pre Flashpoint Superman died at the hands of Doomsday. Great interaction with Lana and this new guy who says he is Superman, a trip to the grave, The Fortress of Solitude, and Smallville all told in 18 pages for the low price of $2.99 So what are you waiting for, all these Rebirth titles are selling fast so if you find a copy I highly recommend you buy it.
Overall I give this book 9 out of 10. Tomasi does a great job moving the story along giving closure to the old and a welcome to the new err old, but new to this world Superman. The art is great Pg 11 (on Comixology app) is worth the price of admission alone. This is the Superman book many have been missing, and I for one cannot wait for the next chapter.
