Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of Ready Player One has cast Japanese actor and boyband lead singer Win Morisaki. Morisaki, 25, joins T.J. Miller, Tye Sheridan, Olivia Cooke, Simon Pegg, Ben Mendelsohn and Mark Rylance. The film, based on the 2011 novel by Ernest Cline, is set in Oasis, a futuristic virtual world game in which participants hunt for eggs that contain the keys to a fortune left by the founder of the world. Morisaki has been cast in the role of Daito who, in the book, is a Japanese “gunter” egg hunter along with his partner Shoto. This is Morisaki first appearance in a Hollywood production although he has appeared in films and TV dramas in Japan. Ready Player One is slated for a spring 2018 release.
