Valiant Entertainment announced via New York Daily News Russian leader Vladimir Putin is coming to its upcoming Divinity II event series as a villain. The series is a follow-up to last year’s Divinity. Coming from writer Matt Kindt and artist Trevor Hairsine, the series has Putin manipulating a ’60-era cosmonaut, who has returned from space with superpowers, who wants to rebuild the Soviet empire. Matt Kindt said of the project:
“I did a massive amount of research on Putin, but I kept his dialogue to a minimum. I think it’s a tricky thing to put words into an acting leader’s mouth.”
New York Daily New’s Ethan Sacks summed up my thoughts exactly:
“Is it really wise to antagonize a former KGB officer who was found guilty by a British inquiry of ordering the radioactive-poisoning murder of a Russian ex-spy in London?”
Remember the 2014 film, The Interview?
The film’s fictional assassination of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un plot did NOT go over well…. There were terror threats and a cyber-attack on Sony Pictures was believed to have been retaliation for the film.
Stay tuned, kids… Divinity II #1 hits stands on April 20.
