Variety has revealed David Koepp has joined Universal’s connected monster movie universe as the writer of “Bride of Frankenstein.”
First Universal will kick off the franchise with “The Mummy,” the first in a series of interconnected monster movies set in a shared universe, in the style of Marvel Studios’ Marvel Cinematic Universe. Frankenstein, Dracula, The Wolf Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon and The Invisible Man are all reportedly also part of Universal’s plans for the franchise.
Directed by Alex Kurtzman and written by Jon Spaihts, “The Mummy” is scheduled for release on March 24, 2017. There are no further details about “Bride of Frankenstein” at this time.
