Monsters Are Such Interesting People: Krampus

Krampus (2015) Michael Dougherty, writer and director of the great Trick ‘r Treat (as well as a screenwriter on 2 X-Mens and a Superman), brings us a new holiday terror. When young Max’s dysfunctional family Christmas goes worse than expected, he tears up his letter to Santa, not knowing that this would bring the wrath of Krampus on his family. Evil elves, living toys, living cookies, and Krampus himself drag off family members one by one, and fighting back seems futile. Pretty nice make-your-own ending too. They were going for a National Lampoon’s Vacation vibe, with the obnoxious in-laws, and though it was amusing, it was laugh out loud funny. When the action kicked in to full gear it was all worth it though. With Adam Scott (Hellraiser 4), Toni Collette (The Sixth Sense), David Koechner (Cheap Thrills) , and Alison Tolman (Fargo the series)
