O’Barr On The Crow

The_Crow1_CoverDuring a panel at Wizard World Madison Comic Con,The Crow creator James O’Barr discussed Relativity Media’s reboot of the 1994 film. Both director F. Javier Gutierrez and Luke Evans have left the project – now what? From blastr we learn the reason filming has not started is money issues. Because of the years spent in production, the film is already $20 MILLION debit. Ouch.

Currently, Corin Hardy is on board to direct the film. Hardy’s film The Hallow earned raves at this year’s Sundance. As for the lead? O’Barr would like to see Sam Witwer play lead Eric Draven. Witwer was a lead for four seasons on Syfy’s Being Human and also appeared on Battlestar Galactica and Smallville. He also voiced Darth Maul in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars series , Starkiller in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed videogame and Orm in the new Justice League: Throne of Atlantis animated movie. Is Witwer interested? O’Barr said when he contacted the actor about the role, “Witwer’s reply was that he’d mow the creator’s lawn for the rest of their lives for the chance.” So, that sounds like a yes. Now O’Barr needs to convince Hardy…

As for the film itself, this is not an attempt to ‘remake’ the 1994 film starring Brandon Lee. The new film will included elements left out of the original film and be more faithful to the graphic novel. What will those elements be? Stay tuned, kids….
