Oh yeah – it’s short person movie review time. This time, I want to go. For those of us….of a certain age… the Muppets are a fond childhood memory. Allegedly, some people do not like Muppets – but those people are weird. I did drag the short people to the theater to see 2011’s The Muppets – and I was not thrilled. I was actually a little disappointed. I know – most people enjoyed it. I am not most people. I guess in my head I had high hopes and just felt a little let down. Fast forward to today. Muppets Most Wanted had hit theaters and we were off. First show this morning. The commercials actually got me hopeful that MAYBE the Muppets could redeem themselves. And they did. Anytime you head off to a highly promoted film, there is always the worry that the funny scenes in the commercial are the ONLY good scenes in the film. Luckily, this was not the case. As usual, Muppets Most Wanted had an all-star cast consisting of Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey – along with a list of cameo appearances. Of course, there were the familiar Muppet characters that we (most of us) have come to know and love. The story was cute too:
While on a grand world tour, The Muppets find themselves wrapped into an European jewel-heist caper headed by a Kermit the Frog look-alike and his dastardly sidekick.
Constantine was classic…

There were some laughs, of course. There were some musical numbers, of course. The opening scene song We’re Doing a Sequel contains the priceless line ““That’s what they do in Hollywood. And everybody knows that the sequel’s never quite as good.” – not sure if that was a warning – or a disclaimer..
The reader’s digest version – it was a cute movie. The cameos were funny. Danny Trejo?!?!
There were some jokes making references to movies that were pretty funny. Will the film get an Oscar nod? No. If you’re looking for deep touching film, this isn’t it. If you like Muppets and are looking for a cute film – this is it. If you think you can trust a rookie…
PS – this happened:
Tom Hiddleston is in Muppets Most Wanted. You’re welcome.
